QA and testing
For any professional ISV, deliberate quality assurance is
necessary for securing an end-product of high quality - at a
reasonable internal cost. Identifying faults early in a development
process can save huge expenses for the ISV - and its
clients.
Without own experience and skills, it often seems
difficult and expensive to get started with QA. Competencies may be
hard to find - and to many smaller ISVs, it is often prohibitively
expensive to hire a full-time QA manager. And often, the need for
testing varies much over time.
With this in mind, Kuadriga has established a QA center to
help current clients and other ISV's professionalize their approach
to QA. By using a mix of dedicated and shared resources, they can
enjoy complete services with a flexible cost structure without high
up-front expenditures. Testing infrastructure is already in place
for fast and cost efficient start-up.
Testing is best performed on the basis of precise
specifications from a product management function. However, in the
real, agile, world, roles are often not that well defined and
specifications may be implemented in a product without ever making
it to paper. This does not make it impossible to conduct meaningful
testing. Only that desired functionality should be documented in a
different manner by reverse-engineering product functionality or by
interviewing developers.
In total, Kuadriga offers a highly flexible approach to QA
and testing. Skills, resources, processes and infrastructure are
all available as needed at very reasonable costs.
