Starting out with QA - the 40 hour starter kit
Many software people suffer from misconceptions about QA and
testing. It is expensive, difficult to get started (especially for
immature companies) and much of its value is academic. We have
designed a short introductory program to show interested clients
how testing by a 3rd party can increase both the quality of the end
product and reduce development and support costs.
What our QA manager does fall in three roughly equal
parts:
1) learns about the application and its
functionality;
2) performs an "exploratory" testing (basically a walk-through
where test scenarios are designed while testing);
3) considers what mix of testing would be suitable for this
specific organization and products.
What our clients get is:
1) a test report on the current state of your product in a
single environment and
2) a proposal to consider - how structured QA may be implemented in
your development processes to ensure the right level of quality
while increasing productivity as bugs are found early.
